Whew, it's just white blood cells in response to a possible bug bite, or even his vaccines, although it's been a month since he had those. Or a bump from his rough-housing with Zoe. I feel kind of stupid for not waiting and watching, but we happen to have a friend with lymphoma, whose DOG also has lymphoma, and the dog has just had a recurrence and is scheduled for surgery. Couple that with the cancer death of a good friend just this week, and you get owner panic. So we bought ourselves peace of mind at least.
I really like this vet, whom we met when we were new in the area and didn't have a vet, and needed to find one asap for our elderly bull dog (Gleason, hence Gleasonsmom). We came in last thing on a Friday night, even though I expected them to offer to see him on Saturday, and then they quietly and gently let us come to the realization that Gleason needed his suffering to end. They were so very nice about getting us in so late in the day, and were so nice to us that day, can't ask for more than that. When he called with the lab results he said, "You can rest easy, little Ozzie is fine." I love this guy.
But the whole thing reminds me of a recent text I got from my DIL who was panic stricken that their Australian Cattle Dog puppy was displaying symptoms that their senior ACD displayed before he died. So I rushed down to pick the kids up from school, and my son came home from work early to take the dog to the vet, only to get the diagnosis that the dog is too FAT! LOL.
Dodged another bullet.
