Just curious.

My mastiff loves to play fetch. My great dane just looks at the ball with that "you threw it, you go get it" look on his face.
Both of my dogs fetch. My St Bermastiff gets side tracked easily. So all long as there isn't another toy in her path, she could fetch all day!
We try to get her to fetch but our little "daddys girl" is a toy hog! Anything that is thrown she will go and get. She does play with our St. Bermastiff pup though. They arr best friends
Our labradoodle can catch a frisbee mid-air, but we'd lost track of it ages ago. I just replaced it and Ozzie has been watching Zoe catching it, so now if I throw it for him he lets it land on the ground, and then bounds after it and brings it back to me. Of course I have to pry it out of his mouth in order to toss it again. It's cute though, he looks so proud of himself.
lol. Aren't they just the cutest when they do "normal" dog things?

When he comes back with it, have a treat ready. Say "let go" or "drop it" and put the treat in front of his nose. He will let go of the toy to get the treat and will learn to associate the action with the words.
I've never had a problem getting a dog to chase the stick and fetch it. The problem's always been getting them to drop the object.
Chloe loves to fetch anything thrown. Getting her to bring it to me isn't that easy...she just doesn't get that part yet.
