Pardon the language but there is no polite word for what Ozzie does. He did it on his former food, and now that he's on a good large breed puppy food it continues. I just got to thinking that he is half the size of most of your puppies, and if his farts are half as pungent then I feel sorry for all of you! Lucky for me he likes to lay beside my husband's recliner and fumigate that immediate area, so I can steer clear of it most of the time...
Happy New Year also!

lol. Yes, it's common with mastiffs. You can try giving him a good probiotic. Look for one with multiple strains of live cultures (will be refrigerated) at natural grocery stores or vitamin stores.
Some seem to be better on different foods too, so it's just a matter of trial and error.
Okay, I'll try the yogurt.
Ozzie has been easy on the house breaking, but I gave the credit to my husband and myself for anticipating him. But yesterday he scratched at the door to go out, and promptly peed and pooped, bless his aromatic little heart!

Awe! That's fantastic. I was shocked at how easy Peabody was to house train, too.
I had some plain Activia in the house so I decided to see if Ozzie liked it. Remembering the comments about them liking raw vegetables I cut a carrot into 'coins' and dipped them in yogurt, and he gulped them down. Literally! No chewing whatsoever. That didn't seem like the greatest idea, so I put a small bowl of the yogurt on the floor and he couldn't eat that fast enough, and while he was eating I cut a carrot into sticks and that worked a lot better. Staying one step ahead of Ozzie isn't all that easy. And that's after a long walk this morning and a couple of play sessions with Zoe. Right this moment Zoe is flat on her side, and Ozzie is squeaking a toy directly in her ear. Lucky Zoe. They are ganging up on me lately too. Zoe stands at the French doors looking out, but she just wants to chase squirrels. Now Ozzie joins her, and when he scratches at the door one of us always leaps to let him out, so I think he also does it just so Zoe can chase squirrels, but he humors me by peeing while he is out there.

That is too funny. She must be very patient.
I've been using probiotic capsules lately because it seemed like I was going through a large container of yogurt every couple of days and the acidophilus/bifidus supplements ended up being less expensive. The dogs are so funny - they think the capsules are a treat and happily eat them. I still give them a spoon of yogurt on the kibble for a treat - they love it. And don't even think about forgetting the morning carrot! Peabody will sit in front of the refrigerator and stare at it until I remember
Do you think the yogurt is helping?
Yes I do think the yogurt is helping, I haven't been noticing as much farting. Ozzie is also not attacking his food bowl as if no one has fed him in a month any more. Maybe that was part of it. He's eating just fine, but not frantically like he was up until lately. Got to get him weighed again...
