Hi, I'm new to this website, but have a couple of questions. My puppy is 5 months old, and has recently been having propblems with her hips. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this propblem with their puppies. My dogs name is Asia.
My puppy Xerxes, is 4 months and I haven't seen anything to keep an eye on yet. He does wiggle his hips alot but I was told that it's because he is going through his awkward walking phase. I guess since this breed grows so fast their body probably feels like a "dead" weight to them.

If you're really concerned just call the vet and ask them what some certain signs you should be keeping an eye on. That way you won't get charged for an office visit.

What kind of problems is she having? Are you limiting her from jumping on and off stuff, from climbing stairs?
My Mastiff/boxer mix is 7 months old and has been having hip or knee problems. I noticed it about 2 months ago on him, the same age as your dog. When he got up from lying down and even limping and not putting weight on his right rear leg at times. His rear legs are longer than his front legs now, I'm hoping he'll even out eventually.... maybe that's part of his problem?
I'm not familiar with large breed dogs. I've always had Dobermans.
aww I'm sorry you are worried, hopefully he get's better soon. Certainly alert the vet if you are not seeing an improvement soon !
I bought pet insurance for him. 14 days before it kicks in, but 1 year for hip displasia coverage!!! I might find a different insurance. My vet said that we'll x-ray him when the ins. kicks in, but if it's hip displasia, then it'll be a pre-existing condition and won't be covered anyway. Quite the catch 22! Not sure what to do now. Vet said he was a bit stiff in the hips, knees seem sound though. There's no clicking in any of the joints. Had a Lyme test done, maybe that's it. We'll see.
