Wow...it's been a while!
I don't know why I've been so distracted, but here is the update. Optimus has been great! He is a total goofball and still cracks us up with his Big wrinkle filled face & his numerous expressions. He's grown...a lot. I measured him yesterday & his hips have come up to 33'' and his shoulders are only at 29'' right now, he looks hilarious. I have some weights to put in his growth chart & a picture of him lounging on the couch. He is loving the cold weather & so far doesn't seem to mind the snow too much. We'll see what he thinks when it gets colder & the snow gets deeper!! We are going to build him a dog house next week so he has a warm place once it's really cold if we have to be at work all day

After this vet visit he had a growth spurt so I am sure he's over 140 now, maybe closer to 145+.
Optimus is just over 11 months old now - and I haven't had a chance to weigh him (no vet clinic where I live). I am hoping to find somewhere to weigh him for his 1 year birthday...but he is getting very big. Very muscular and is starting to realize he's not tiny. He actually barks when people come to the house...like one "woof-woof"!!

Optimus celebrated his 1st birthday last monday (Feb 7th)! And holy smokes he's a goof! It seems like his growth spurts have tamed down a little and now his "bad puppy" behaviour is coming out! He is so hyper lately...and that's just what everyone wants right? A giant dog running around the house like he is a tiny puppy! HaHa! Oh well...he's still a good dog by any measure. He is OBSESSED with a rubber chicken toy that squeaks when he chews it...but we always take it away and hide it on the fireplace mantel...only problem is that now he knows where we put it and even though he took it outside and hid it he sits by the fireplace barking like mad because he wants it. It's been 2 days now and he still thinks it's up there...what a nut!! Not sure if I've mentioned, but we got a kitten for xmas and they are BEST FRIENDS. The kitten is about the size of Optimus' nose and they love each other...it is way too cute!
I have a concern however...Optimus had "puppy pimples" all the time, but then they cleared up for a while, but now it seems like they are back worse than before! I'm wondering if that is normal? He has them around his nose a LITTLE, but the worse seems to be under his chin where he's all drooly...any suggestions??

Those pimples do eventually just go away. I was told by my vet to not worry about them unless they started looking infected. You can warm compress them a couple of times a day, too. The best thing for puppy pimples is to verify that he is eating and drinking out of clean metal bowls. Plastic and porcelain can trap bacteria that can cause those. Happy Birthday, Optimus!

Thanks for the tips! They don't look infected...some get so big they pop and bleed though...eww...but he has metal bowls that are clean, but maybe I'll have to make more of an effort to clean them more often, I guess Looking clean doesn't mean there are no germs

Optimus shares his dog food with the lil guy, they cuddle ALL night...usually Ratchet sleeps on top of Op, but sometimes just snuggle side by side. If Optimus is outside Ratchet wanders around the house meowing (the only time he meows really), and if Op is inside and can't find Ratchet he wanders around the house whimpering. It is priceless!! I figured this link would be way easier than re-sizing photos smaller to put on here!! Enjoy

Optimus and his kitty are so dang cute. He's getting BIG!!!
Is Optimus a pure breed English? It might just be the pattern of brindle he has, and lack of wrinkles on his face, but he reminds me a lot of a Cane Corso.

After looking at the facebook page.... never mind! His puppy pictures remind me too much of my puppy cane!

LoL! Yup! He's a pure bred alright! He just has a really awesome brindle...and his face is super wrinkly, it's just so dark you can't see the wrinkles too well in pictures.

We really thought he'd be heavier, but I guess he's just getting really tall and lanky these days!! He looks HUGE lately. Hips & shoulders are above 32''...haven't taken any measurements lately there though...and his 24'' collar is getting snug around his neck. He is a beast - and still plays with the 3 month old kitten like they are the same size.

Here are a few pictures from last month...Optimus & his new kitten, Ratchet. The first few days were S-C-A-R-Y! As Optimus was so excited and the kitten was SO SMALL. Now they worked it out and are best buds. They sleep together all night, curl up and cuddle in front of the fireplace, and I have even caught Ratchet (totally asleep) "nursing" and kneading on Optimus' chest. It is the cutest thing!!

What?! You really thought he'd be BIGGER?!?! Perhaps for the few of us whose mastiffs were 100 lbs. at a year, 155 is ENORMOUS! Brooklyn just turned 13 months and he is weighing in at a little under 135. Talk about getting lanky...
Um, my bad. It's been a while since I've looked at B's weight chart and I spaced that he was 100 lbs. at 6 months! Still, Op has 20 pounds on B right now and they were growing steadily at the same pace when they were pups. I guess you just never know what you're going to get!

Really!??! LoL! I know he is enormous, but he LOOKS bigger...he is a BEAST!! His Dad was 161 lbs at a year old, so he's a little bit smaller than his daddy-o! So I guess I just thought his Dad was normal sized? I'm not disappointed or wanting to force his weight gain. Our main goal is that he is healthy & looks good, which he does! He's been sleeping a lot lately, so I feel like another growth spurt is coming on - oh boy!!
