Hey guys,

Quick question, Relllik is playing really hard? When he gives a puppy play bite he is biting to win not play win? How can I stop him from doing it soooo hard?

I have tried the little growl like his mom would do, but that only seems to stop him for a min or two, I've also tried a firm "no" and firm "oww" but again only works for a min or two!

I really want it to get under control before he is 200lbs, any thoughts?

This is a great site! We took Yogi to an intro to clicker training class, and are training Josi using a clicker and these methods....

Thanks for the tip I have been trying to work with him on his biting, he seems to be getting better Smile
I'm a huge fan of clicker training, too. I highly recommend taking a clicker puppy class.

If he play-bites too hard, try squealing "owe!" in a loud, high pitched yelp...like a hurt puppy would yelp. Puppies learn the limits from their littermates - when they bite another pup too hard, they yelp and the noise usually makes everyone freeze for a second. Then you can add a command like "no biting" immediately afterwards so he eventually learns the words. Don't let him continue to play roughly following the bite. You can practice some obedience like sit, down and stay following an incident like this to direct him into a calmer activity.
