I have a 3year old female English Mastiff with Pancreatic Insufficiency on Viokase. I need some recipies to help her gain some weight back. Can you help me?
I notice that you encourage the use of glucosamine. I was interested in switching my 18 week old great dane to Innova(i currently feed Royal Canine), but Innova doesnt include glucosamine in the ingredients. So then do i supplement her with it or choose a different food? Or do you think Royal Canine is a good enough choice? So confusing

I am new to this site, and not sure if this will even get out here. I am proud to have a ten week old English Mastiff. She came to our home on Mother's Day. My question is I have been told by breeders and reading the same on the internet, to feed my puppy adult food for large and giant breeds. I asked the vet, and he says no that the puppy needs good puppy food. Also to spay her when she is younger, not to wait two years. Any advise?

Find a new vet... Big Grin

Our vet who has a mastiff herself, "highly recommended" we switch Yogi to adult food during his 2nd checkup, and as you've probably seen, many breeders start the pups right out on a quality adult food.
Also it is commonly recommended by those familiar with giant breed dogs to wait until the dogs growth plates close on their bones before having them spayed or neutered, which can be anywhere from 16 to 24 months or older (from what I've read...)
Hi! I am new here and to mastiffs in general. Sarah is 13 weeks now and she's sooo awesome. She seems to have trouble with other animals, especially older dogs. She seems ok with puppies. But when I tried to introduce her to my motherinlaws 2 boston terriers she was so scared of them. Her first response is to bark at them then cower when they try to come closer. She spent to rest of the time they were here avoiding them completely. When she gets really scared all the hair on the back of her head all the way down her back stands on end. Is this normal? How do i fix? it and I can't figure out why she does it. Any advise would be great. Alot of my friends have dogs that travel with them when they visit us. So its real important that she is friendly with them but I NEED HELP!! Thanks for any help in advance!
Hi i-tails,
I have what looks like a Tosa Inu @ 8 months around 85-90 lbs. Does anyone have a growth chart?
We have a 2 year old Great Dane who was being fed on Kibble, till I read about feeding raw food. I've begun just two days ago and my dog has taken to it rather well. My fear is that it may now begin to get wild and start to bite people. Are my fears justified?
