RE: Ozzie, the runt of the litter
Does the fact that Ozzie was out back with a frog leg hanging out of the corner of his mouth make him a gourmet?

He is speedier than he used to be, giving chase to Zoe instead of watching her zoom around the yard, but I would have bet against him being able to catch anything. It's been interesting to watch him grow lately. His skin has developed a certain slackness, and now you see his muscles moving underneath the skin when he walks. The loose skin has created wrinkles in his forehead, which give his face so much expression. Sometimes I think he's not getting taller, but heavier, but then I'll notice how tall he is compared to Zoe and yes, he's growing in all directions. He'll be 20 weeks on Friday and I'm going to be sure to weigh him then. |

RE: Ozzie, the runt of the litter
birth, barely a pound 8 weeks... 6 pounds, 5 ounces 9 1/2 weeks... 8.2 pounds 11 weeks... 13.6 pounds 12 weeks... 15.8 14 weeks... 27.2 16 weeks... 34.5 pounds 18 weeks (plus 3 days) ... 47.5 pounds 20 weeks (minus 2 days)... 52 pounds It was in interesting day. When I posted earlier this morning I had no idea we'd be taking an emergency run to the vet, but that's what happened. I said that I've been enjoying watching Ozzie's muscles moving under his coat while we walk, so we left for our walk this morning and I immediately noticed a lump in his side at the haunches. I know that it hasn't been there because I've been really admiring him lately and I can't believe that I'd have missed it yesterday. You couldn't have missed it today, but I admit that I didn't notice it until he was out in the sun. The vet said that it's really unusual to have a tumor show up in a puppy his age, so he was reassuring. He did a needle biopsy which we'll get the results of in 72 hours. He thinks it's a reaction to trauma from his rough play with Zoe, or his increased activity lately. I've got my fingers crossed. Sue |

Whew, it's just white blood cells in response to a possible bug bite, or even his vaccines, although it's been a month since he had those. Or a bump from his rough-housing with Zoe. I feel kind of stupid for not waiting and watching, but we happen to have a friend with lymphoma, whose DOG also has lymphoma, and the dog has just had a recurrence and is scheduled for surgery. Couple that with the cancer death of a good friend just this week, and you get owner panic. So we bought ourselves peace of mind at least. I really like this vet, whom we met when we were new in the area and didn't have a vet, and needed to find one asap for our elderly bull dog (Gleason, hence Gleasonsmom). We came in last thing on a Friday night, even though I expected them to offer to see him on Saturday, and then they quietly and gently let us come to the realization that Gleason needed his suffering to end. They were so very nice about getting us in so late in the day, and were so nice to us that day, can't ask for more than that. When he called with the lab results he said, "You can rest easy, little Ozzie is fine." I love this guy. But the whole thing reminds me of a recent text I got from my DIL who was panic stricken that their Australian Cattle Dog puppy was displaying symptoms that their senior ACD displayed before he died. So I rushed down to pick the kids up from school, and my son came home from work early to take the dog to the vet, only to get the diagnosis that the dog is too FAT! LOL. Dodged another bullet. It has a 12X zoom, and I bought it to take pictures of the grandkids. Ozzie wasn't even a gleam in anybody's eye back then. But I never learned to use the functions well at all. But I did know that it has a function for taking pictures of things in motion, so I had that set already. And I'd just missed a shot of Ozzie running towards me, so I was prepared, with my wrists resting on a fence. Which just goes to show ya that even I can get a good picture once in a while! LOL. Sue |

RE: Ozzie, the runt of the litter
You should set the resolution a little better. That picture doesn't give your camera justice. Looks grainy.

I've learned that if I want to put a photo on here I have to go through Picasa and email it to myself. Then I take the emailed picture and send that one because it's been resized down so far. I know I could resize it myself, but this if faster and it will work the first time I do it. sue |

RE: Ozzie, the runt of the litter
The easiest way I found to resize a picture without having to download it other sites and then on here is to just use Paint. Open your photo from paint then go to resize and make it to where it fits in the Paint window perfectly, then save it in Paint. Hope this helps!

But I installed a 30 day trial of Aperture, Apple's big photo program, so I'll see what I can do with that. For now, the easiest way to have a small version of my picture available to choose as an attachment is what I've been doing. And I know how to do it, it's not beyond my computer skills. LOL. |

I tried to measure how tall he is at the shoulder, but he wanted nothing to do with the tape measure. That's the only thing I've seen him be afraid of ever! LOL. |

RE: Ozzie, the runt of the litter
Wow, I'm glad I'm not alone with the tape measure thing! We can't get a height on Ookla either - way too squirmy. We had to settle for eye-balling him next to other things, and then measuring those.
