RE: Brooklyn - Mastiff - Growth Chart
Quick update on my big lovie. So our neurotic rough collie thinks it is her job to obsessively clean B-man. I've had to keep them completely separated and they're both pretty bummed. Her licking caused a little bit of drama to the incision site, but I've been diligent about warm compressing so when I took him in to the vet this morning, the vet said we didn't even need antibiotics! He's such a good boy and completely ignores his incision.

Brooklyn also has a minor case of happy tail. Grrr... Dodgy Luckily it's just the very tip so I'm wrapping it and hopefully it will heal well. The vets tell me "Once a 'Happy Tail', always a 'Happy Tail'. Anyone have experience with this?

On a rather amusing note, my ex-uncle came over for my daughter's 3rd birthday this last weekend and there was chaos everywhere. I introduced him to Brooklyn, who was happily crashed out under the kitchen table (his FAVORITE PLACE) and he asked if B was dead or heavily sedated. I told him neither; that he was just pretty mellow. He just couldn't comprehend how any dog would be comfortable just crashed out during a chaotic 3 year old's birthday party. It cracked me up. Love my big cuddly boy. Blush

1 week - 2 lbs.
3.5 weeks - 7 lbs.
5 weeks - 9 lbs.
6 weeks - 13.2 lbs.
7 weeks - 19.4 lbs.
8 weeks - 23.4 lbs.
10 weeks - 28.7 lbs.
11 weeks - 33.2 lbs.
12 weeks - 37.3 lbs.
14 weeks - 50 lbs.
16 weeks - 60 lbs.
18.5 weeks - 71.5 lbs.
20 weeks - 78.8 lbs.
21.5 weeks - 83.1 lbs.
22.5 weeks - 89.4 lbs.
24 weeks - 95 lbs.

Vet rechecked his incision today. Although surgery was 11 days ago, we have decided to leave in his stitches for another week to ensure that we've allowed enough healing time. I met a 3 year old female OE Mastiff on Saturday and, although she was 35 lbs. heavier than Brooklyn, they were almost the same size. I'm excited to watch my baby continue to grow. Big Grin

I'm so happy he is doing well!! He is almost 10 lbs bigger than Optimus at the same age...I weighed Op today (21.5wks) and he is 76.5 lbs! He grows slow for a while then spurts up though...I'm hoping he'll reach at least 200, but we're don't know his dad's full grown weight yet since he was only 18 month when they bred him...it's a mystery! haha.

Thanks for your support. It is such a relief to have him healthy and playing again. I'd ask the breeder if they know the weights of the grandparents as I have heard that is a more accurate estimate of how big the pups will be. I am curious myself because B's parents were 150 and 160 pounds. Since he's likely to be well over 100 pounds by 6 months, I would assume that he will weigh more than them. I'm just excited for his polar bear head to come in!

Wow! I didn't know the grandparents weight was such a good indication... all I know about the grandparents is that the Dad's Dad was 265 lbs!! So my boy should be a giant!! I emailed the breeder the other day asking for an update on Decker (dad of Op) to see how big he is and hopefully a picture! He is gorgeous he'll be about 2 now so I'm very curious!

Funny story for you...I'm doing a major cleaning of the house today and had the TV on, Optimus was in his usual position SPRAWLED on the couch & I turned the TV to a music channel. Upbeat music kinda dance-ish I guess, but not techno or anything and he started following me around the house whining. He wouldn't go out to pee, he has food & water & I couldn't figure it out. He'd go lay down and WHINE...so I figured maybe he doesn't like the music so loud. So i tried turning it down & that didn't work...so finally I changed it over to the country station and turned it back up and figured this dog is a dork I'm not letting him dictate how loud my cleaning music is! And he went straight to sleep in the middle of the floor & hasn't moved since. Apparently he is a country fan!! It is more his pace so I can see it!! Such a goof!!

I wonder what Op's dad looks like! I betcha he's handsome.
Your country story is funny.
Brooklyn's favorite place, as I have mentioned, is under the kitchen table. He is always laying at my feet because I am often at my computer that is currently set up ON the kitchen table. The other night, I was hanging out in the living room for a date night with the husband and I was sitting in my sky chair. B-man came and laid under that chair all night. It took changing seats to realize that it's not the kitchen that is his favorite -- IT'S ME!!! Silly...

RE: Brooklyn - Mastiff - Growth Chart
Went to the dog park and met an 8 month old apricot female OEM. Brooklyn was one inch shorter and 10 pounds lighter than she was! The owner was this super-cute 77 year old lady. She said people told her a 77 year old woman shouldn't have a big dog like a mastiff and she told them they were nuts. I hope to be a spunky old lady with my mastiffs in tow some day!

This summer, we are dealing with the attack of the flies. They keep attacking B-man's ears. I went to the local feed store and got Flys Off so hopefully that helps. I cleaned his ears yesterday and they were pretty gross. Looks like I'll have to start doing it on a weekly basis. Big stinky mastiffs. I'm also gonna give him a bath today. Maybe that'll help...

Brooklyn is growing like a weed. He still spends most of his time under the kitchen table sleeping, but he's started knocking over the chairs because he's getting too big to fit under there! I'm so grateful we were given the opportunity to save him. My life would not be the same without his big goofy presence.

I haven't posted any pics lately so now I am bombarding you all! I can't believe how fast my baby has grown. Due to his past health issues, I have decided to switch him to Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy food and supplement with Cosequin DS. Not a hard transition and this boy sure does love his food!

Honestly, he always looks like he's pouting. Who did it to the baby, Mr. Brooklyn? Tongue

Thought maybe he was slowing down a bit but he's still gaining about 4-5 lbs. a week. Currently 29" at the shoulder and 30" at the hips. Such a big sweet boy. Went to California for a week without him and I kept calling the husband to check on how B was doing! Sorry Husband, I'm in love with my dog! Tongue
