I can only post pictures from my iphone because it says the file is too large on pics from my camera. Also I noticed you started him on Iams. That's what the breeder had Bridget on, but I know it's too high protein. I'm not sure I want to keep her on the Chicken soup. I'm looking for another good brand to try. |

Kahless was munching on a fig, so excuse the fact that his mouth was full in this photo: ![]() As for your photos, I highly recommend that you upload your camera's high resolution digital photos from your computer to photobucket. That Website will automatically resize your pics for you for posting here. Or you can download a piece of software called "Batch Image Resizer" which will do the same thing on your computer. I use both methods but think it might be easier for you to just use photobucket. Then after you upload your pics to photobucket you just copy and paste the link from photobucket right into your post and your pictures will automatically appear in your posts. Let me know if you have any more questions. I'll be glad to help. By the way, photobucket is free and here's the link: Photobucket As for the food: I don't believe that Iams Large Breed has too much protein, at 26% that is not too much. The problem with Iams LB Puppy is that it has corn meal, other corn items, and chicken BYPRODUCTS! Yuck! Avoid foods containing corn or corn gluten and any kind of Byproducts which are feathers, beaks, organs, feet, etc. I like the Innova formulations including their Large Breed Puppy and their large bites. Innova Website You will end up feeding less because the protein is all usable. Corn is used to inflate the protein number but is NOT digestable in dogs. So they end up pooping it out. It's a cheap and deceptive way for manufacturers to boost their protein numbers with no benefit to the dog. California Naturals is another brand by the same company and it too is excellent food. California Naturals Website One of the reasons we went this way is because Kahless was having skin issues which disappeared after we switched him off of the Iams. He is doing so much better now. His favorite treats are homemade chicken broth Popsicles made without salt, of course. We also supplement the kibble with fresh foods as well such as fresh cooked chicken meat, cooked eggs, veggies, etc. I hope this helps. Robin

She is gorgeous!
I agree, personally I would never feed Science Diet or Iams. In addition to Innova Large/Giant Breed, check out Canidae All Life Stages and Eagle Pack Holistic Select Large/Giant Breed Puppy. Links are here: http://www.i-tails.com/great-dane-mastif...-feed.html Check the protein/fat levels on the bag before you choose a food as she is still young and growing rapidly - avoid anything high in protein or fat as it can cause bone/joint problems. I believe the three mentioned above are all at or below 24% protein. http://www.mydog8it.com

RE: Bridget Great Dane Growth Chart
The Eagle Pack Holistic Select doesn't contain corn - it's just their "regular" lower-end food that does. Here's a link to the Giant Breed Puppy: http://www.holisticselect.com/HS_LGPuppy.html
I've been contemplating switching to Canidae because of the human grade meats though, but since the Canidae doesn't have glucosamine in it I would have to supplement. blah. It's less expensive though. http://www.mydog8it.com

Right you are! I stand corrected. I didn't see the different grades of Eagle. The Canidae formula looks awesome.

RE: Bridget Great Dane Growth Chart
We switched Yogi from the Iams to Chicken Soup shortly after we brought him home, and he is doing very well on it. At first we tried the Chicken Soup LB Puppy, but he had very loose stools. Once we moved him to the LB Adult, everything firmed right up.
