english mastiffs
Mastiffs, often called English Mastiffs or Old English Mastiffs, are the
largest breed of dog. Weighing in at up to 280 lbs, this massive breed is heavy
boned and powerful, presenting itself with dignity and grandeur. Mastiffs were
bred hundreds of years ago and used for guarding, protection and accompanying
men into battle.
Today, Mastiffs are friendly and outgoing companions, fiercely loyal to their
families yet gentle with children and other pets. Mastiffs should have a friendly, courageous,
docile and good natured
personality. A mastiff should never be timid, shy or aggressive. A mastiff's
powerful structure
should be well balanced.

lifestyle changes
An adult mastiff can rest his/her chin
on your kitchen countertop while standing on all 4 paws. You can't leave your breakfast on the counter
while you refill your coffee - it will disappear in a matter of seconds.
A mastiff's wagging tail is very powerful and will completely destroy
anything in it's path from 2 1/2 feet high and below. This means no glasses or
breakables on the coffee table.
Your mastiff will take up more space on the bed than you do, and
you will probably find yourself sitting on the floor while your dog sprawls out on
the couch.
The money you used to spend on designer clothes and shoes will now be spent
on hundreds of pounds of dog food, toys, treats, and more dog food.
You will feel incredibly safe whenever your dog is present.
"Drool Rags" are kept in every room of the house and handed out to guests
upon entry.
Once you own a mastiff, it will be practically impossible to imagine
living without one.
english mastiffs and kids
Mastiffs tend to be good with kids. However, their
massive size and strength can pose a problem with small children and toddlers.
Small children can be easily
knocked over or injured by a wagging mastiff tail or romping 100 lb. puppy.
Kids and dogs should always be supervised and never left alone together.
